Blepharoplasty Mexico

Blepharoplasty, or eyelids surgery, is a very popular and satisfying facial rejuvenating procedure. As a person ages, the eyelids’ skin starts sagging, while the upper eyelid droops, in the lower eyelid we start noticing fat deposits and skin sagging; commonly known as “puffy bags”. These not only make the person look “tired”, but aging as well.

Are you troubled by sagging upper or lower eyelids? A blepharoplasty makes you look younger by tightening the skin around your eyes. Additionally, it can address eyelid wrinkles and can correct any vision problems that you might have because of your droopy eyelids.

The Blepharoplasty Procedure

Dr. Segovia uses laser energy to perform this procedure, which offers the benefits of lessened bleeding, bruising and swelling. During eyelid surgery, loose or excessive skin will be removed, and fat tissue; can be removed or relocated, depending on each case. Additionally, drooping muscle tissue can be tightened. This surgery in Mexico will give the patient a younger appearance and a lighter look too.

The procedure is around an hour long and is done under local anesthesia and sedation. There is no need for bandaging, only humid gauze is applied.

Cosmetic or Functional Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty can be of two types: cosmetic and functional. Cosmetic blepharoplasty is suitable when you wish to improve the aesthetic appearance of your eyelids and in cases where your drooping eyelids aren’t hampering your vision. Eyelid drooping could be a consequence of aging or heredity.

Functional blepharoplasty is generally carried out to correct one’s vision by tightening eyelids that droop down into a person’s field of vision. Besides vision impairment, drooping eyelids can also cause forehead discomfort and eyelid irritation. Older patients are more likely to experience this issue than younger patients.

Should You Get Blepharoplasty?

You can determine if a blepharoplasty is right for you by consulting with Dr. Segovia, an experienced surgeon in Mexico. During your consultation, he will assess your eyelids in order to better understand the issue and will speak with you regarding your aesthetic and functional goals.

If your droopy eyelids aren’t affecting your vision, Dr. Segovia will rule out functional blepharoplasty. You can then ask him about your candidacy for cosmetic blepharoplasty.

You will need to be in good health for blepharoplasty surgery and should have realistic expectations. You will need to discuss your complete medical history with Dr. Segovia, including allergies and previous surgical procedures.

The benefits of blepharoplasty can last for a maximum of 10 years. Your eyelids will begin to droop again after the treatment with age. If you want to keep enjoying the results of blepharoplasty, you may need a repeat procedure.

Post-operative situation:

Post-operative care is just as important as the procedure itself. If you fail to take proper post-operative care, you may not be able to enjoy quality results from your surgical procedure. Thus, it is best to follow Dr. Segovia’s post-surgical care directions as closely as possible.

You can expect your eyelids to feel sore after your surgery. You may treat this with analgesics. In the first few days after your surgery in Mexico, you should apply ointment on your incisions to keep them lubricated. Use a cold compress to bring down any swelling experienced.

Your eyes might dry out easily, so don’t subject them to any activities that may make this worse. You can use eye drops to prevent your eyes from drying out.

This is an outpatient procedure. The appearance of purplish areas is common and will be gone between 5 and 7 days in most cases. We strongly recommend using sunglasses for a couple of weeks, as sun protection and to protect your eyelids from wind and pollutants. Wearing proper sunscreen is very important. Recovery is quite fast and the results are extremely satisfying.
