Excess skin and stubborn fat aren’t easily removed with diet and exercise alone. Sometimes a little extra help is needed to achieve the body of your dreams. If you’ve been struggling to get rid of the skin and fat in your abdominal area, Dr. Roberto Segovia can help you address your cosmetic issues with abdominoplasty in Mexico.
What is an Abdominoplasty?
Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is a surgical procedure meant to remove excess skin and fat tissue from the midriff and lower abdomen; while also tensing abdominal walls muscles.
Abdomen flabbiness is common in women who have gone through several pregnancies and people who have had significant weight loss. Stretch marks are expected as well. We have to state that exercise has no influence on stretch marks and flabbiness. The only true effective way to remove both is surgery.
There are several abdominoplasty techniques, which can be combined with other body outlining procedures such as liposuction and breast surgery.
The Abdominoplasty Procedure
The procedure is done through an incision on the lower abdomen so it will be hidden by underwear. The abdomen’s skin is lifted after being separated from the bellybutton. Abdomen wall muscles will be sutured according to their natural position to achieve a flat abdomen. Skin will be stretched, its surplus and fat surplus too will be removed. The belly button is placed in its new position, incisions are closed and the entire area is bandaged.
Surgery can be performed under general anesthesia or spinal blockage and takes around two to three hours. We advise the patients to stay overnight at the hospital and to walk the very next day, but to avoid any strenuous activity. Scars usually fade with time and are hidden by underwear. It is a highly popular and satisfying procedure since its results are a flat abdomen and a streamlined figure.
