Liposuction or laser liposculpture is a wonderful technique to remove excessive fat tissue in every part of the body, it is not meant as a weight-loss method. As time went by liposuction was improved until it became liposculpture since what the surgeon does is give the body a more esthetic figure by eliminating fat from some areas and injecting it into others such as the buttocks. Liposculpture’s goal is to even out different parts of the body, giving the patient a nicer look, and above all help him or her feel better about their image.
What happens during the procedure?
It can be done with sedation and local anesthesia and spinal blockage or under general anesthesia. The number and sizes of treated areas determine the procedure’s length. Before the procedure, a special solution is infiltrated to lower bleeding risk and facilitate the fat extraction, and then Cannula of different widths are used to suction fat. Incisions are very small and done in areas of the body that will commonly be covered with underwear; after some time has gone by, they are almost invisible. Some bruising is to be expected after surgery and will be gone about seven to ten days later.
We highly advise patients to wear a girdle for four weeks so the skin can better adapt to its new contour. Relative rest is advisable for a couple of days after surgery; then the patient can gradually go back to her regular activities. We recommend having lymphatic drainage done after the first week to reduce swelling faster.
This is a very safe, high-quality procedure that makes patients very happy with its results.
