Rhinoplasty Mexico

The nose is one of the most prominent aspects of your face. For many, it brings facial symmetry into balance, but for some, the nose may be the cause of insecurity and embarrassment. Whether it is caused by a traumatic incident or due to genetics, a misshapen nose can take a toll on someone’s confidence. In such cases, a rhinoplasty is performed to address the issue. Dr. Roberto Segovia has helped many patients dealing with problems related to the shape of their noses with rhinoplasty in Mexico.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty commonly referred to, as a nose job is one of the most frequent surgical procedures done. Its purpose is to remodel the nose’s structure, be it to reduce or augment the nose’s size, change the tip or septum, reduce nostrils, or change the angle between the nose and upper lip. It can also fix inborn imperfection, trauma, and even some breathing problems.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure

Rhinoplasty is always done in an operating room. The patient will usually stay overnight in the hospital and be discharged the next day. Surgery can be done with local anesthesia, although it is mostly done under general anesthesia, the decision is made depending on the surgery’s complexity and the surgeon’s preferences. When done with local anesthesia and sedation the patient feels relaxed and the nose and areas surrounding it numb to pain. The surgery usually lasts from an hour to an hour and a half; however, in some cases, it may take longer.

During surgery, the nose’s skin is separated from its bone and cartilage support, which will be sculptured to the desired shape. Finally, the skin is re-set over its new support. The procedure can be done from inside the nose through small cuts inside the nostrils, or an open rhinoplasty will be done, especially for complex cases in which a small incision is made on the columella. When the surgery is over a splint will be placed to keep the nose’s new shape, along with nasal packing in both nostrils to prevent bleeding and to keep the nasal septum stable.
